The YP Foundation is a youth led and run non-profit in India that develops young people’s leadership skills to take action on issues that young people are passionate about.
We support young people between the ages of 13 to 28, to conceptualize and implement projects that challenge stereotypes, forge sustainable partnerships and promote the uninhibited expression of young people.
TYPF was founded in July 2002 as The Youth Parliament in New Delhi and was registered as The YP Foundation in August 2007.
With a team of 27 staff and 350 volunteers who are peer educators, trainers, young professionals, artists, project managers, researchers, social entrepreneurs, technicians and inventors, we work with the aim of sustaining a platform that enables young people to be effective and expressive agents of change.
In the last 7 years, we have worked with 5,000 young people to set up over 200 projects in India. Our work reaches communities through performing and visual arts, literary and research projects, peer education, policy and advocacy awareness and skill building initiatives.
We develop and support young people’s projects in the following fields:
· Supporting Slum Children (Healthcare, Education and Leadership)
· Mental Health and Life Skills
· Substance Abuse and Addiction
· HIV/AIDS (Prevention, Counseling, Care and Treatment)
· Gender, Sexuality, Rights and Health
· Climate Change and the Environment
· Human Rights
· Citizenship and Governance
· Peacebuilding and Culture
· Performing and Visual Arts
The YP Foundation is currently supported by the Global Fund for Children and the International Women’s Health Coalition in USA amongst other corporate, individual donors and agencies.
You can support our work by contributing to an issue/programme you feel strongly about as a donor and engaging creatively with the shape, form and impact of that project or volunteer your time, skill and interest with any branch in a project of your choice.
Why? So you can inspire young people to take positive action on issues they care about.
